Frequently Asked Questions
What is relationship and divorce coaching?
Relationship and divorce coaching is a supportive, structured process designed to help you navigate change, gain clarity, and move forward with intention. It focuses on understanding what’s happening now, identifying priorities, and supporting next steps.
How is coaching different from therapy or counselling?
Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or medical treatment. I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Coaching is often used alongside therapy or legal support and is particularly helpful for decision-making, perspective, and practical support during transition.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults navigating relationship breakdown, divorce, and periods of significant personal change. Coaching is suitable if you are seeking support, clarity, and guidance rather than crisis or emergency intervention.
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Coaching conversations are confidential. Exceptions apply only where disclosure is required by law, where there is a serious risk of harm, or where you provide written consent. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and work in line with UK GDPR.
Do you offer a free initial call?
Yes. I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute discovery call. This gives us space to talk briefly about what you’re looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
What happens in the introductory session?
The 90-minute introductory session offers time to share your situation in more depth. We’ll explore what’s happening for you, identify immediate priorities, and discuss how coaching could support you moving forward.
How do your monthly packages work?
Monthly packages include an introductory session followed by four coaching sessions. Some packages also include additional email or message support between sessions. Packages are designed to provide continuity, structure, and steady support over time.
Can I book individual sessions instead of a package?
Yes. Individual 60- or 90-minute sessions are available. Some clients prefer to start this way before committing to a package.
What is the ‘Hold Your Hand’ support add-on?
‘Hold Your Hand’ is optional email and text/WhatsApp support offered between sessions within agreed boundaries. It is intended for reflection, reassurance, and gentle guidance — not for crisis situations or real-time conversations.
What training and professional development do you have?
I have completed an ICF-accredited qualification in relationship coaching and undertake ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as part of my professional practice. This helps ensure my work remains ethical, informed, and aligned with best practice. My coaching qualification is supported by a BA (hons) degree in Psychology.
How is my personal data handled?
Your personal data is handled in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Full details are available in the Privacy & Cookies Policy.
Practicalities & Boundaries
How do booking and payment work?
All coaching sessions must be booked in advance. Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. This applies to individual sessions and packages.
What are your cancellation terms?
If you need to cancel or reschedule:
More than 24 hours’ notice: sessions may be rescheduled
Less than 24 hours’ notice or non-attendance: the full fee is payable
If I need to cancel I will give you as much notice as possible and you will be offered a reschedule or refund.
How does message support work?
Message support is offered within clear boundaries:
During normal working hours, Monday to Friday
Responses are provided within 1–2 working days
Support time includes reading and responding
It is not real-time or on-demand support
Is message support suitable for emergencies?
No. Email and message support are not suitable for crisis situations, immediate distress, or risk of harm. If you are unsafe or in crisis, please contact your GP, local crisis services, or emergency services.
Do you offer legal or mediation advice?
No. I do not provide legal advice, therapy, counselling, or mediation. Coaching is a supportive, non-directive process focused on clarity, reflection, and next steps and can work really effectively alongside or in advance of mediation and consulting a solicitor. Coaching can include sign posting to other suitable professional services.
Can I pause or stop coaching?
Yes. Coaching is voluntary, and you may choose to pause or end at any time. Package terms and refund policies are outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions are currently offered online via Zoom or another platform you are familiar with. In person sessions are available dependent on location.
If you’re unsure whether coaching is right for you, the free discovery call is a good place to start.
